INTRODUCTIONS
(Moderator: Dr Joanna Rodiki Petrides, joannarodiki@yahoo.com)

Hello from Cyprus. Welcome to the interactive activities group!!! I am Joanna and I will be with you through this 6 week session.
I am a trained primary school teacher and a trained EFL teacher, with a Masters in Applied Linguistics and a PhD in teaching EFL to young learners.
I am currently working for the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus, as an EFL teacher to primary school children and an EFL coordinator for primary schools.
I am married and a mother of two lovely boys. Apart from the three lovely men in my life, my areas of interest focus on Applied Linguistics, EFL teaching, CALL, Material design and teacher training. Most of my " extra - curricular" work, conference presentations and article publications in the last decade focus on these areas. The top one of my list however is CALL and implementation of technology into teaching. Hot potatoes, the software we will be using is my favorite.
Objectives
During this week's session, you will:

-
Open an account in Yahoo.
- Introduce yourself to the other participants by sending a mail to interactiveactivities@yahoogroups.com.
- Think about a topic for your Hotpotatoes activity project
- Fill out a profile survey.
Activities
Opening your account
Remember, before you start working with us, you need to open a yahoo account. It is very simple, just follow the procedure at yahoo.com.
Hi, I am....
Why don't you introduce yourself to the group moderators and all the participants by sending a message to
interactiveactivities@yahoogroups.com. In your introduction be sure to:
- tell us about yourself
- tell us about your work experience
- specify the age of your students
- describe very briefly your experience on using the computer in the language classroom
- describe your experience on designing your computer based activities.
Thinking about a project
While it is nice to just play around and experiment with this software, we thought you might like to kill two birds with one stone. So, we'd like you to design different activities for your class. During this first week we'd like you to:
- think of a specific group of students
- decide on a topic for your class
- think of the objectives for this class
- think of the kinds of activities you would like to design for it
During the session, you can share your newly created activities and get feedback from the other participants during our sessions at WizIQ. In week 5, you can upload your activities (or perhaps one or two) to our Yahoo group or to our wiki. So, put your thinking caps on!
Taking a survey
We'd like to know a little bit more about you and your experiences with computers and designing interactive exercises. Help us by taking this short survey. Click on the image to go to the site.
